Over the past few days there has been significant media attention over incidents of sexual assault and harassment at Russell McVeagh that occurred two years ago. Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association condemns that type of behavior as inappropriate and applauds the bravery of the young women involved in making complaints to the firm, their universities and to the police. It is important that within the legal profession, and across all industries, we continue to have discussions about these issues and effective and appropriate responses to allegations, to help create a culture that discourages and condemns this type of behavior and is supportive of people who come forward.
