President: Hon. Judge Kate Davenport KC

The Women’s Consultative Group (WCG) was established by the then President of the NZLS, Hon. Dame Judith Potter. The WCG regularly made submissions on proposed legislation, and played a significant role in the promotion of women into the judiciary and part-time judge roles. The role of WCG was to:

  • Promote the advancement, retention and common interests of women studying, qualified and employed in the law;
  • Discuss and debate issues of interest;
  • Prepare and disseminate reports, studies and recommendations;
  • Report regularly to the NZLS Board on issues affecting women in the law; and
  • Act as a consultative group to the NZLS and other entities.
