Nominations are now open for the AWLA Committee 2024.
The executive positions that are available are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. There is also the opportunity to become a Committee member. The Committee is made up of 15 members. To be eligible for the Committee you must be an AWLA member at the time of the AGM. The Committee meets at 6 pm on the first Tuesday of every month (February to November) so you need to be available on those evenings. Your commitment is more than a monthly meeting though – AWLA exists to support women in law. You will be able to contribute to the advancement of women in law through a variety of different means. Some of these include:
Organising legal events
Supporting students that are currently studying law
Assisting in scholarship and writing prize applications
Liaising with the judiciary
Writing legal submissions or advocating for law changes that affect women
Assisting with our mentoring programme and much more!

If there are more candidates than places available on the Committee, or more than one application for an executive position, an election will be held at the AGM on Thursday 7 December 2023.
